Yoga Nidra is the only known way to rest the unconscious mind, and is also known as "yogic sleep." It promotes a state of conscious sleep in which awareness is maintained, and you are both deeply relaxed and alert. Count on this class to give you a rejuvenating, restful experience with visualization, body scanning and stillness. The practice can increase the capacity of your mind, improve focus and connection to your higher Self, and increase well-being. It also serves to relax the nervous system and reduce hypervigilance by promoting a parasympathetic state.
Yoga has 8 limbs, with Asana (poses) and Pranayama (breath and energy exercises) being the most popular.
The practice of Yoga Nidra incorporates four other limbs: Pratyahara (sense withdrawal), Dharana (focused concentration), Dhyana (meditative absorption) and at times, Samadhi (bliss or enlightenment).

Jenn
Jenn is a 200-hour certified yoga teacher, excited to extend her personal practice with her fellow classmates and students at Greenwood Lake Yoga.
Jenn's yoga journey began when navigating grief and a huge life shift. Learning about yoga philosophy and the power of presence and embodiment inspired her to share her practice with the community. Her teacher training focused on mindfulness, body-positivity and trauma-informed approaches through her studies with Yoga Farm Ithaca and Greenwood Lake Yoga. Jenn is currently working on her 500-hour certification through Siddhi Yoga International, with an emphasis on philosophy, accessibility, compassion, and reverence for yoga's Indian roots.
